“Initially created for an exhibition on The Ballet Russes for the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, this perfume pays homage to one of the greatest forces of the twentieth century: Sergei Diaghilev. Founder of the legendary Ballet Russes, he totally re-wrote the rules of artistry and was even said to have scented the curtains of the theatre so patrons were enveloped in a burst of fragrance as they were raised at the start of the performance. A bold symphony of 32 ingredients, a floral heart of Jasmine, Tuberose, Heliotrope, and Violet create a sweet and beautiful harmony which is underscored by a lively melody of fruity Blackcurrant, Peach and Citrus. Warm, earthy Patchouli and Oakmoss are joined on stage by the naughty seductiveness of Benzoin, Leather, and Labdanum. The rich deep base of Oakmoss, Vetiver, and Patchouli is warmed by a complex blend of Sandal, Guaiac, and Cedar Woods, interspersed with spicy accents of Cumin, Clove, and Nutmeg, which are wrapped in an overtly sensual base of Vanilla, Benzoin, Peru Balsam, Styrax, leather-like Labdanum and Leather, Musk, and ultra-costly Ambrette and Ambergris. The whole counterpointed by a medley of fresh citrus fruits where Bergamot, Lemon, Lime, and Orange mingle with Tarragon, before revealing a voluptuous bouquet of Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Tuberose, Rose, Orris, Heliotrope, and Violet with touches of fruity Peach and Blackcurrant Buds.
